SproutComm
Head Start family-engagement infrastructure
The pilot
ParentComm × ReadSprout — one loop

The message home, the learning at home, and the paperwork — one loop.

Head Start programs carry a federal mandate: ongoing two-way communication with every family, in the family's preferred language, documented well enough to survive a federal review. Programs still meet it with translation apps, paper logs, and screenshots. SproutComm joins ParentComm's home-language engagement with ReadSprout's home-learning activities in a single loop — message, activity, confirmation — and the loop writes its own documentation to HSPPS 1302.50.

The loop

first

The family advocate

Writes once, in English

One message plus tonight's short home-learning activity — counting the stairs, finding the letter on the cereal box — sent once for the whole classroom.

→
A mother and her son on the stairs at home, counting wooden blocks together
then

The parent, at home

In their language, voice first

It arrives translated — Modern Standard Arabic, Bangla, or English — with a spoken version for parents who listen more comfortably than they read. The parent does the activity, taps We did it, and can answer with a voice note in their own language.

→
finally

The record

Writes itself

The voice reply is transcribed and translated back. The confirmation and the reply become a dated engagement note on the family's record — the evidence a federal reviewer asks for, produced as the work happens.

No second system. No screenshot archaeology before a review.

Built on Meta's Muse family — implemented, not name-checked

Muse SparkTranslation & localization
Every advocate message becomes a true localization in each family's language — Modern Standard Arabic, never dialect; full Bangla in Bangla script, nothing left behind in English.
Muse Voice TranscribeParents' voice replies
A parent who speaks more easily than they write answers by voice. Their note is transcribed and translated for the advocate — and quoted in the family's record.
Muse WonderThe documentation
Confirmations and voice replies become dated, factual engagement notes mapped to HSPPS 1302.50 — assembled only from what actually happened, never embellished.
MuseDirector of the build
SproutComm itself is directed and quality-gated by Muse, working with a crew of models that build and cross-check each other. Built with Muse, on Muse.

Principles we don't trade away

Documentation is the feature
The record isn't a report you run later. It is written by the loop itself, per family, ready for review.
ELL-first, literacy-aware
Arabic, Bangla, and Sylheti (Deshi) families are the design center — voice first, because a parent who can speak but not read is still a full partner in their child's learning.
Parent-mediated, always
Children never interact with the system directly. Activities happen between parent and child, off-screen; the parent confirms.
No AI on the child's device
All intelligence is server-side. The family's phone only displays, plays, records, and confirms — cheap Android phones are first-class.
Synthetic demo data only
Every family in our demos is invented. No real child's name, voice, or record ever enters the system for demonstration.
Where this stands

Working software, taking shape in the open.

SproutComm is pre-launch. The engagement loop on this page — advocate message, home-language delivery with spoken audio, guided home activity, parent confirmation, automatic documentation — exists today as working software, built during the Meta Global AI Developer Hackathon (October 26 – November 4, 2026). The pilot grows out of ParentComm, shaped with Detroit Head Start educators, and ReadSprout's home-learning engine.
